An Active Year
for Lynchburg Apple Core!

The Lynchburg Mac user group is busy throughout the year holding monthly general meetings at a central Lynchburg location with satellite groups meeting at Westminster Canterbury and in Amherst. One meeting is a dinner affair with spouses/guests invited. In addition, the group has provided the impetus for Central Virginia Community College to conduct classes on the new Mac OS the past two years. Plans are being studied to establish smaller informal study groups to concentrate on specialized technical subjects.

2005 Annual Meeting

The Third Annual
Lynchburg Apple Core
Meeting Held on ____

Around 75 LAC members & guests attended the third Annual Dinner Meeting on November 17 at Oakwood Country Club

This once-a-year meeting offers people the opportunity to meet
and chat with fellow members from all three sections in a social setting. Spouses or friend were invited.

The meeting began with a social hour, followed with a great menu which had a number of choices including prime rib & chicken followed by desert.

The program included presentations by Apple Core members sharing their knowledge and experience with their Macs.

To begin, Stevie Woodson, a teacher with 25 years experience, showed us how she used the computer in her classroom to make learning more interesting for her students.

Michael Corbin showed us how to make and manage our Christmas card list in AppleWorks.

Randy Thrasher presented excerpts from several videos he has prepared in iMovie and iDVD which showed several exciting trips to distant places including Madagascar and South America.

There were two new iMac G5's for all to see, both the 17-inch and the 20-inch models, courtesy of LAC member Ernie Duff, and new member Truman Vannatta. These are beautiful machines!

Monthly Meeting Location changed from CVCC to Lynchburg College

The General Meeting location has been moved while Mac Lab at CVCC is renovated

The Apple Core main meeting is held at Lynchburg College. Lynchburg College agreed tohave the Apple Core to meet on a regular basis in Hopwood Hall, Room 14. This move of our meeting location is came at a poiint when CVCC was undertaking renovation of Campbell Hall, necessitating the closing of the Mac Lab for an undetermined period of time.

Hopwood Hall at Lynchburg College meets the criteria for our meeting place:

  • High speed internet access for presentations
  • Easy, geographically central access for the majority of the membership
  • Adequate, secure, lighted parking
  • Appropriate meeting room accommodations
  • Continuing schedule for the location

Therefore it is planned for the near future that our main meeting will be held in Hopwood Hall at Lynchburg College. Please bring your comments and questions to the May meeting, the last one at CVCC.

For directions to Hopwood Hall meeting place, take a look at the campus map.
